Maxon has been developing and building precision electric drives for 60 years. The technology is designed to deliver maximum performance in the smallest possible space. The drive unit consists of a very compact but powerful 80 Nm brushless maxon EC internal-rotor motor and a single-stage performance planetary gearhead. With the e-bike system, down tube designs with diameters as small as 60 mm are possible. The Q factor starts at only 155 mm and the innovative freewheel has no noticeable resistance. It is possible to mount either racing or MTB chain rings.
The complete system developed by maxon weighs only 3.5 kg, is integrated out of sight in the frame and has an innovative freewheel that ensures a natural riding experience. Support can be activated at the press of a button. When the rider exerts more pressure on the pedals, the torque sensor immediately responds with more power.
The lithium-ion battery is permanently mounted in the down tube and can only be removed by the specialist dealer, if necessary. It combines a low weight of only 1.8 kg with an energy capacity of 400Wh.
A range extender is available for longer rides and adds another 250Wh. It works like a power bank and charges the integrated battery. The Range Extender can be stored in your backpack or inserted in a BIKEDRIVE AIR bottle holder and connect to the system with a cable.
The HMI gives you full control over your e-bike. You can connect it to your smartphone via Bluetooth (BLE), or to other devices from Garmin, Sigma, or o-synce via ANT+. You can choose between three levels of support and configure them individually. In the factory settings, there are three preset modes: Cruise (gentle tailwind), Push (sport mode), Blast (lots of power for steep inclines). An inconspicuous and intuitive shifter for the racing bike or mountain bike handlebars is available as an option.
Maxon offers a connect app and a service app for iOS and Android. With the connect app, the cyclist can individually tune the support levels. The Service app is a tool that allows bicycle mechanics to quickly perform troubleshooting and order spare parts.
We have given the Ocelot 125 a progressive character. How progressive a bike is depends primarily on the regression of the leverage ratio.
The leverage ratio of the Ocelot 125 decreases about 20% during the travel. This way the suspension is supple and sensitive around sag, yet big hit capable. Plush during quick rides, with little risk of bottoming out.
With our proprietary PUMA suspension system we are able to design an anti-squat value that is more or less the same in all gears. At sag we designed the Ocelot 125 with an anti-squat value of 115% in the granny gear and 108% in the most heavy gear.
In short this compensates for 100% of pedal bob induced by the pedal torque and another 8 - 15% to account for your body movement on the bike.
Anti-squat values come down throughout the bikes’ travel: from more than 125% down to less than 85% to create less pedal pop deeper in the travel.
This way our team crafted a very efficient platform in all gears during a climb or sprint, yet very lively when going downhill.
The Ocelot 125 benefits from very little pedal kickback. Especially at high speed, in heavier gears kickback is negligible.

When you brake, the center of gravity shifts forward causing the fork to compress and the rear suspension to extend or compress, depending on the anti-rise value.
The Ocelot 125 has anti-rise levels between 84 - 99% throughout the bikes’ suspension travel. This means that braking will have a smaller effect on the suspension, while compensating nicely for the mass transfer during braking.
In effect this stops you and the bike from tilting excessively forward under hard braking. At the same time levels around 100% allow the suspension to remain active and sensitive throughout your braking zone.
The Ocelot 125 is designed to offer a near vertical axle-path during the first half of the travel. Exactly, this is the part of the suspension travel that you use most during very fast sections.
When the vectors from trail obstacles and the wheel path are more in line this results in the suspension being compressed rather than the bike being ‘held back’. You will feel this as extremely smoothness of the suspension.
